FPL Bench Boost GW35: Should You BB35 Instead of BB33?
28.2% of FPL squads have GW35 as their optimal Bench Boost gameweek. That makes BB35 the second-best Bench Boost window of the 2025/26 season, behind only BB33 at 52%.
I ran the chip optimizer across 7,124 real FPL squads. BB35 is the right call for a specific profile of team. Here is the data on who it suits and how to build for it.
Why BB35 Is the Second-Best Bench Boost Week
Bench Boost needs all 15 of your players to play. That means a double gameweek with broad DGW coverage, and GW35 in 2025/26 has the second-widest DGW spread after GW33.
BB35 wins for squads where:
- Your bench is built for GW35 doublers, not GW33. Different fixture overlap means different bench value.
- You did not Wildcard in GW32. If your squad is already strong for GW35 organically, BB35 fits better.
- You used Triple Captain in GW33. TC33 and BB33 cannot coexist, so BB moves to the next-best DGW.

BB33 vs BB35: When Each Wins
BB33 wins when:
- You Wildcarded in GW32 and built your bench around GW33 doublers
- GW33 has more of your specific players doubling than GW35
- You are not Triple Captaining in GW33 (one chip per GW rule)
BB35 wins when:
- Your specific squad has more doublers in GW35 than GW33 (check fixtures)
- You played TC33 instead, freeing GW35 for BB
- You did not Wildcard in GW32, so your GW33 bench was suboptimal for BB
- You are pairing with WC35 (the WC35 + BB35 combo)
The WC35 + BB35 Combo
The strongest BB35 use case is the WC35 + BB35 pairing. This is the late-season mirror of WC32 + BB33. Rebuild your squad in GW35 around the doublers, Bench Boost the following week, all 15 of your hand-picked players play twice.
The data:
- BB35 alone: +11 to +16 pts median uplift
- WC35 + BB35: +38 to +44 pts median uplift
- WC32 + BB33 baseline: +58 pts (still higher because Wildcard returns compound over more gameweeks)
WC35 + BB35 does not beat WC32 + BB33 outright, but for the 7.2% of squads where WC32 did not fit, BB35 is the second-best Bench Boost play and pairs cleanly with a late Wildcard.
How to Build a BB35 Bench
A Bench Boost bench is not the same as a normal FPL bench. Usually your bench is cheap 4.0m fillers you hope never play. For BB35, the bench needs to score.
Priorities in order:
- Starters only. A 4.5m nailed defender doubling in GW35 scores twice. A 4.0m GW35 non-starter scores nothing. The 0.5m cost difference is worth 10+ points over a DGW.
- GW35 doublers. Target 3-4 teams with two GW35 fixtures and stack them. That way bench order becomes irrelevant.
- No rotation risk. Avoid rotation candidates at top-6 clubs. A rested bench player in a DGW wastes the chip.
- GK pair from same team. If you own both GKs from a GW35 doubler, you get goals or clean sheet points on the bench regardless of who starts.

Should You Bench Boost in GW35?
“BB35 is optimal for 28.2% of squads. It wins when your bench has more GW35 doublers than GW33, when you already used Triple Captain in GW33, or when pairing with a late Wildcard. Run the optimizer with your actual squad and remaining chips before deciding.”
BB35 is right for you if:
- Your GW35 bench has 4+ guaranteed doubler starters
- You played TC33 or are not using Bench Boost in GW33
- You have Wildcard still available and want the WC35 + BB35 combo
BB35 is not right for you if:
- You Wildcarded in GW32 and built your bench for GW33 doublers
- BB33 has more of your specific players doubling than BB35
- Your bench quality is similar in both weeks (go with BB33 because the chip returns sooner)
The BB33 vs BB35 call comes down to bench composition. If your 4 bench players have more fixtures in GW33, BB33. If they have more in GW35, BB35. It is that specific and that simple. Run the optimizer to see your squad's answer.
