How to Pick Your FPL Captain

Your captain scores double, so the armband is the biggest single call you make each week.

Expected points decide it. A player's xPts for the gameweek already weighs the opponent, his minutes and his chances of goals, assists, clean sheets and bonus, so the top name is the pick most weeks.
Minutes come first. A rested captain scores nothing. The cards above only rank players projected to start, and the predicted lineups show every club's likely XI.
Pick a vice-captain who plays. If your captain does not play, the vice-captain takes the double, so make it your second-highest starter, not a safe name on the bench.
Change it every week. The best captain moves with the fixtures, which the fixture ticker rates 1 to 5 for every club. This page re-ranks on its own as the projections update.
