FPL Double and Blank Gameweeks

TL;DR

A double gameweek (DGW) is a gameweek in which a club plays twice, so its players can score in both matches; a blank gameweek (BGW) is one in which a club does not play at all. Confirmed so far this season: doubles none yet, blanks none yet, and Chip Strategies times your Bench Boost, Free Hit and Triple Captain around them.

What Is a Double Gameweek in FPL?

A double gameweek happens when a postponed match is moved into a gameweek in which both clubs already have a fixture, so they play twice in it.

  • Every point counts in both matches. A player scores for each match they play, and your captain's points from both are doubled.
  • The postponed match leaves a blank. The gameweek it was taken from becomes a blank gameweek for both clubs.
  • Cup ties cause most of them. FA Cup and League Cup rounds that clash with league fixtures push matches back, which is why most doubles and blanks arrive in the second half of the season.

When Are This Season's Double Gameweeks?

  • Doubles confirmed: none yet.
  • Blanks confirmed: none yet.
  • More arrive as matches are rescheduled. This page and the fixture ticker update when FPL moves a fixture, and the ticker stacks a double's two opponents in one cell.

Plan the transfers that set up a double with the solver, which counts both fixtures in its projected points.

How to Plan Your Chips Around Doubles and Blanks

  • Bench Boost: in a double where most of your 15 players have two fixtures, so the whole squad scores twice.
  • Triple Captain: on a premium with two good fixtures in the same double.
  • Free Hit: in a big blank, to field a full XI for one week; your squad returns the week after.
  • Wildcard: the week before a double, to build the squad that plays twice.
  • One chip a gameweek. Each chip comes twice: once for gameweeks 1 to 19 and once for 20 to 38, with the first Wildcard and Free Hit from GW2.

Last season's data on which chip weeks paid is in the DGW chip guide, and the chip strategy guide covers this season's plan.
